For this dish, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups of uncooked white rice
- 1 cup of chopped green bell pepper
- 2/3 cups of diced onion
- 2 teaspoons of iodized salt
- 1 clove of minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1/8 teaspoon of powdered saffron
- 1 ½ cans of tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 3 cups of water
In a large pan, pour in the vegetable oil and set it over medium heat. Add in the onions and sauté it until golden brown.
Next, add in the rice and stir until every grain is coated with oil. Stir in the cumin, tomato sauce, green bell pepper, chili powder, saffron, and garlic. Dash it with a little salt for flavor.
Pour in the water and bring the mixture to boil. Allow the ingredients to cook for 40 minutes or until the rice is soft and tender.
